Where Has This Summer Gone?

community

July went by and most of August and I am just creating my ezine now! I do have a bit of an excuse. We had an issue with some tenants where they were asked to leave. The subsequent mess left behind made July clean up month. Not only did we have to completely paint again (less than 8 months since the last time) but we had to tear out all the carpets and put in new flooring. We will be selling our condo. Actually my parents lived in this spacious 2 bedroom condo overlooking the Thames River. My husband Jim and I were keeping it for when we got older & couldn’t negotiate the stairs of our house. HOWEVER, not even good memories of my parents would keep us from selling it.

I am not sure about you, but for me as I get older my body doesn’t like getting down on the floor to paint moulding! I used a lot of my FGX power strips to get me through with decreased pain! I will miss the wonderful people we have met there over the years. Our neighbours at the Condo are spectacular; they always kept an eye on my Mom & Dad and would let us know if there were any problems. One couple considered them their Mom & Dad too and shared meals, good talks and game nights together. The superintendant was our friend. He also kept an eye on my parents. It is a community where my parents are still remembered fondly. We would laugh at some of their antics. So this has been a closing of another chapter in life.

We were able to get away in our trailer a couple of times this summer to visit friends. It is great to travel with your home away from home. There is less work for your friends to do when you visit this way as well. Recently my son and his family came to visit and stayed in the trailer. Our house is fairly small, so having a space for company was pretty awesome. The girls 3 years and 9 months old slept fairly well out there and could have their breakfast in the trailer, or come in for a bigger breakfast than toast or cereal. Of course in our house is the Toy Box, so that got used quite a bit!

I mentioned above about using the FGX power strips while working on the Condo. Pain reduction was key for me as I had a deadline to put the condo up for sale. My husband even tried them and found that his pain level decreased significantly. He now uses them regularly. He is a believer in science so for him to try them took a big leap of faith.

Throughout this whole Condo clean up I was reminded of the kindness of neighbours. One of my neighbours near our house worked along side me on the condo. She also put in long hours on her own to help me out. We have helped each other out over the years. When in need we have both stepped up to the plate. I am eternally grateful for her assistance. Without it I would still be slugging away at the Condo. These are the moments in your life when you pause to appreciate the gifts you receive in life. They may be big ones or little ones, but they show mutual respect. Cherish your friends.

Two years ago I lost my best friend here in London. Our mutual love for Freckles, our dog reminds me of all the gifts I received from her over the years. She was a colleague in nursing, as well as a companion in retirement. Yesterday Jim and I went to Port Stanley to The Buccaneer where Karen & I often went. As I swam in Lake Erie looking up at the blue Condos where I once lived, I thought of many wonderful days in Port with my family and with my friend. One man playing Marco Polo in the lake with his kids reminded me of pool days on those lazy warm summer days.

Remember to treasure your friends. Treasure your memories and above all remember to treasure who you are. You are a unique and wonderful person.

Enjoy these last days of summer with your loved ones!
