This year, leaf gathering has continued late into November. In fact, my smoke bush is just now giving up its leaves. The smells of the fall are amazing. There is a crisp clean smell in the air. The leaves being gathered gives a whiff of the soil beneath. The squirrels are gathering nuts for the winter. I even saw my chipmunk again. It no doubt was gathering for winter as well.
The lily plant’s water barrel has its winter heater in it. I watch as all kinds of animals and birds come for a drink. The dogs go a bit ballistic, especially when they spy the squirrels. Nature got them back though as they ran into a skunk! Baking soda, peroxide and dish soap to the rescue. There is nothing like bathing three dogs at night. Only one got it full blast in the face. The other two, by association with her, got their baths too. Nature at its finest. I really do love the fall. Even the skunks are cute. I affectionately call them stinky kitties!
This week, an amazing event occurred. My parents’ former cottage was on Georgian Bay. They looked directly at the Blue Mountains of Collingwood across the Bay. One of their neighbours was blowing leaves off the pathway leading to the lake and what he discovered there just blew me away.
Lying below the leaves for probably close to thirty years was a set of keys belonging to my Dad. There was a Bell key fob holding these keys, which still worked by the way. Dad worked for Ma Bell for 32 years. He and Mom sold the cottage over 13 years ago. They are both gone now. Seeing a piece of him was amazing for me. A hello from above so to speak. As our next-door neighbour had just sold their cottage and possession is today, it almost seemed like a goodbye to them as well.
In a way there is a giving up of keys and a finding of keys. Perhaps I am reading too much into this, but perhaps not. Sometimes I feel relatives or friends or even my pets around me or hear a song that reminds me of them. To me this is a gift I treasure. I hope this happens to you as well, as a reminder of a loved one. Though they are gone, they are not forgotten.
I have been doing some self-care this month. It is so important to do so, especially for healers. We get out of balance as well. Some exchanges with other healers go far towards becoming more balanced. I have had a tooth extraction with subsequent infection for over two months. The area was not healing due to a piece left behind! On the mend but needing more rest than usual. I don’t know about you, but antibiotics make me tired. Sometimes we just need to stop and listen to the needs of our body. I know with me if I do not, it will make me stop physically. It is much better to listen.
If you need to take a break, relax, heal, and/or reduce pain, take the time to gift yourself with a Reiki treatment. You will be more balanced, relaxed and experience great pain reduction. I know this is the busy season, but think of it this way: this is your gift to you. Surely you can spare at least a half hour or an hour out of one week. You will be so glad you did as your body responds in a healthier way.
It is only $40 for a half hour and $75 for the hour. Senior rates offered as well. Are you not worth it? I know the clients I work with at Wellspring feel amazing after their complimentary half hour sessions. Reiki works hand in hand with conventional treatments as well. Click here to book your session.
Take care of yourself. Enjoy the remainder of November. Don’t get too overworked thinking of Christmas preparations. Remember, it is all about the love that is Christmas.
