This past Monday I was on my way to Costco when a truck carrying a load of plastic wrapping material lifted off the truck bed and landed on the road in front of me. There was nowhere for me to go so I had to hit this mass. I was hoping it was just plastic! I looked behind me and saw only a bit of plastic on the road. This meant the majority of it was under my car. I quickly parked in Costco’s lot and began pulling the plastic out.
It was a hard go at first as it seemed to be caught. I could smell the burnt plastic on the undercarriage of my car! I filled a shopping cart which overflowed with this stuff and explained to a Costco employee why there was such a mess. You know you go into auto pilot when things like this happen. I never stopped to think that there was a garage right there on the premises.
Interestingly enough I had a premonition just before it happened i.e. to be very careful in traffic today. I have ignored this to my own detriment before. I had slowed down to be careful. If I had not done this the plastic could have covered my windshield and I would have been blinded. I was so grateful that no one was hurt in this incident. A moment like this is an opportunity to truly appreciate the life you have been given.
On a lighter note I saw my chipmunk this week. I have a window bird feeder with safflower seeds in our family room. The chipmunk was trying to go from the top of the feeder into the portion holding the seeds. She couldn’t achieve this at first, so she dropped to the ground. She then started to try to leap up onto the feeder. She did this several times. I couldn’t stop laughing at her. (I called her a her because I had tamed a chipmunk as a child at the cottage that I named Gertie.)
Next thing I know she is in the bird feeder filling her chippie cheeks. She returned many times to fill up some more. The old adage of, “If at first you don’t succeed… try, try again” certainly fit this little creature. She was nothing if not determined! I don’t know about you, but I think at times I could use some of her determination. I am for the most part, but at times I could use an injection of what she has. Also, it reminded me to laugh at life itself when given the opportunity.
April was a wonderful month not only for the beautiful spring flowers, Easter celebrations with family, but also for the number of clients I have had. I know my clients feel so much better after their Reiki sessions and that gives me great pleasure for them as they heal. When you see a person to help ease pain, there has to be some trust there. I am grateful for the opportunity to help every person I see and celebrate with them in their journey towards healing. As my friend Karen Brown (now passed—Freckles’ former Mom) used to say, “I have enjoyed the wonderful healing help of my professional Reiki friend Sue White. I find the long-lasting effects of her helpful hands most beneficial. If you are uncomfortable, try Reiki.”
I appreciate all my clients who have experienced Reiki as well as Allergy Corrections. I have often had people ask me if Reiki or Allergy work takes energy from me and the answer is no. Energy flows through me, and I feel better afterwards as well. So, a win-win for sure. Reiki can be sent anywhere in the world. I will be sending some to my Granddaughter in Jamaica who just received a bug bite. She gets very swollen where this occurs. It will dissipate quickly.
A new month begins which is full of gratitude for me. What are you grateful for? How can you improve your day? What can you say to yourself when you wake up to start each day with more positivity? I wish you all positive things. I know very well how difficult this can be at times. Stop the tape… rewind and start again. Have an actual stop sign picture near where you work or at home where you will see it. We can all change and grow. I know I need reminders and have close friends who will do so! You may not always want to hear what they have to say, but when it comes from love it is so important. It is my opportunity to grow.
