March Madness

The month of March is one of many ups and downs. It is a time when the weather can be balmy one day and frigid and snowing the next. We had so much freezing rain that my car got stuck in the driveway! My son had to chip it out so it could be moved. It would only spin its wheels otherwise!

The upside of all this was that we had two visits from my daughter-in-law with the Grands, then my son with the kids over March break. Our home felt so full of life when they are here. There is so much noise, laughter and sometimes tears too. The Grands always love the extra treats we always have for them. They also love playing with Bella. She loves all the attention plus all the extra walks too. Before they left this past Friday we went to Aylmer to visit the Tundra Swans. There were over 4000 there. Such beauty was there for our eyes to feast on!

Last month I talked about my last time at Forest City Toastmasters where I gave a 22-minute speech. The first couple of weeks I felt a bit lost on Thursday evenings. I am starting to fill in the time with dinner with friends and appointments for my Reiki clients. I know that if I want to visit I can do so on Zoom. I have continued to see my friends from there by attending great movies at the Hyland Theatre. Some friendships are so important to maintain. They are my rock through tough times. Health issues can at times take priority. We are blessed to both have Doctors who listen to our concerns and they follow up too.

We also moved to a new Pharmacy last fall, where we are greeted each time we walk in. A.J. is not only kind to us but to my son who needed medication for his daughter. Kindness goes such a long way to making you feel appreciated. We are always sure to let him know how much we appreciate him too.

This always reminds me that you never know what another person may be going through. Try to always be kind. Sometimes there are moments when you may have to bite your tongue or count to 100! There are times when you may need to say that you agree to disagree. That way you are respecting yourself as well as the person you are talking to. In the heat of the moment, this can often be hard to do. If you need to, get professional help. They can take the burden off of any situation. You do not need to feel alone.

I don’t know about you, but I am ready for spring! My plants are sprouting too! I will be so happy to not have to gear up with so much winter clothing AND boots. I hate slip-sliding on the ice. I have used a lot of ice melter this year. The fun part (NOT) is it tracks into the house and gets everywhere.

My Barrie Grands gave me a birdhouse for Christmas. While they were here this week they decided where to place this one. I now have 10 birdhouses on the side of the garage. In total there are 16 on the property. Not all of them get used but many do. Our mosquito count is lower because of them. I look forward to hearing the baby birds peeping. For me, nature is so soothing for my soul. It is a peaceful time of reflection. We all need these important moments.

I have said this before but just a reminder to be kind to people around you. Don’t forget to be kind to yourself as well. Find joy in all that you do. Not every second of your life will be joyful, but some parts will. These moments sustain you through difficult times.

Take care until my next blog!

Sue
