March Madness

March crocus
St Patrick’s Day was this week and on March 15th the Ides of March—the day Julius Caesar was killed. We also have March Break or for some Reading Week. March is an interesting time between winter and spring. Family & friends down on the East Coast might disagree with my scenario! As Rick Mercer so aptly said: there is Ontario, then Quebec, then a Snow Bank!!! What an incredible winter that never gives up for them. They have been digging themselves out all winter. My Grandchildren have had so many snow days, that it seems they have been home more than at school!

This month has been a time for reflection for me and for some courses that I am taking. It has been hard to get motivated at times. Have you experienced this as well? Not sure if it is because of such a cold month in February. Though I had many things to do, a lot did not get done. This was a push to do some of the required items like doing my taxes. So for a while I just let things be and did some R & R. Some guilt there, but realized my head wasn’t in the game right then. It is a matter of listening to me. Have you noticed that when you do not listen, the universe kind of smacks you on the side of your head! Learn to listen not only to your friends & clients, but to yourself. Your body will let you know if you don’t. For some they may get sick, or perhaps unintentionally hurt themselves.

Through this period my clients have motivated me and my Reiki on them has also worked on me. I needed to soak up some of those Reiki Rays! February into March has always been tough for me due to memories of a work related injury. Though I barely think about them now, my body remembers. It is important to acknowledge this, but to again move on. Try not to get stuck in this part of the process. Acknowledge these feeling & thoughts, and then let it go. It does get easier as the years go by.

I went with a friend to see the movie ‘Drop Box Film’ which talked about throw-away babies. This was a tough topic, but one which did show promise to many of these children. Reach out to friends when you need to connect more. They help you to find those joyful moments in your life. Socializing is so important to connect you with others. Because I am retired I make a concerted effort to do so.

This month I joined a group called Women in Business W.I.B. They had a great event for International Women’s Day. Their guest speaker was Carol Johnston who is the founder of the Children’s Museum here in London Ontario. Carol talked about the trials & tribulations along the way especially concerning funding for this project. She never gave up. This was the first Children’s Museum of its kind. Many have come to see how it was done so they could create their own museums. Now our museum is looking for a newer larger location. Carol inspired me in the fact that she never gave up on her dream. She went to people who could help her. Kind of like Dragons Den today. As many children and parents will attest—this is a magical facility. I know I loved seeing this museum through the eyes of my Granddaughter. We also all got to play. Another good point there: take the time to play!

So enjoy Spring in a couple of days! May this see the end of snow until the fall! May you enjoy the new life of little critters and of beautiful Spring flowers.

Be all that you can be. Be kind to yourself. Listen to yourself and most of all take some time to play!

Yours in health,

Sue
