So many things are going through my mind this month.
I personally had a first when I gave my initial speech at Toastmasters International. In this speech I talked about my life so far. There were many references to water throughout my speech from summers at our cottage on Georgian Bay to Lake Couchiching in Orillia where I took my nursing training. I had so many memorable memories.
Water to me is a place to sit and meditate or just reflect. It helps with relaxation as breathing slows to match the rhythm of the waves. By letting go of non beneficial thoughts and releasing any tensions in your body you can feel relaxed and refreshed.
I was totally unaware that Friday March 22nd was world water day! I was so happy to learn this as water is so important to us all. We are, after all, 60% water!
As well, Easter is rapidly approaching. This is a special time in many of the religions around the world. For little ones, the Easter Bunny is very special too!
March has even graced us with more fluffy snow. I know Bah humbug!! The snow means more moisture for the budding trees and the beautiful spring flowers to follow. You don’t get as wet from snow as you do from a downpour of rain AND your backyards are not muddy!!
In reviewing books to come up with an Irish theme for St Patrick’s Day (another great day in March) I came across Collected Poems of W.B. Yeats. In particular I came across one that almost spoke to me.
It is called “The Lake Isle of Innisfree”
I will arise and go now, and go to Innisfree,
And a small cabin build there, of clay and wattles made:
Nine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee,
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,
Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings;
There midnight’s all a glimmer, and noon a purple glow,
And evening full of the linnet’s wings.
I will arise and go now, for always night and day
I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore;
While I stand on the roadway, or on the pavements grey,
I hear it in the deep heart’s core.
In closing I would like to ask if there is anything holding you back from what you want to do. If so, then how can you go about changing this so that you get the outcome that is important to you? Sometimes it is just a matter of taking that first step forward. Enjoy every first step in whatever you do. This is often the hardest as you conquer your fears. It is important to celebrate “you” at every phase of your progress.
Much can happen, if you choose change. If however you always do, what you have always done, you will always get what you have always gotten.
Have a wonderful relaxing Easter with friends and family!
