Happy Spring!

spring flowersI don’t know about you, but this was one brutally long winter which never seemed to warm up – until April! So now I am so appreciative of all the beautiful spring flowers popping up in my gardens. I always love Spring, but this year it seems to have had so much more meaning. Perhaps because of the snow and cold I actually appreciate this Spring more than others.

I know that there will be trimming and cleaning out the flower beds; however this does not seem to be as much of a chore as usual. It is wonderful to work in the wet soil again. It is delightful to see the sun again AND to feel it’s warmth on my face. I actually had to take my Spring jacket off as I worked in the garden. Because I have an old back injury I work bit by bit at the garden. As much as I would love to do more each day, I have learned to pace myself more or else it will be days before I can get back to it. I have also learned how effective exercise is in maintaining a stronger back.

In March I again made a trip out to the East Coast to visit my daughter’s family and to check in on the progress of the twins. They were so much fun at 8 months of age and are starting to become mischievous for example one would take a toy or soother from the other and watch them cry. Then reverse. Very funny to watch their social skills develop.

My Grandson is now talking up a storm. This is wonderful to see. He is so gentle with his baby sisters. And the oldest Granddaughter is a delight in her clothing styles which change rapidly during the day. Some pretty clever combinations which amazingly seem to work. The magical mismatched gloves and shoes on backwards add to the ensembles. She and her brother tear around the house playing various games together, and of course tormenting each other a bit as well. Isn’t that what a sibling is for???!!!

The only downside of the visit was the sharing of a cold from the kids, which lasted well over a month. And the sharing went on to my husband as well. Our hearing is still a bit fuzzy, but otherwise we are happy to be feeling great now. It makes you appreciate feeling well. It is great to be seeing friends again after a while of isolation.

I am also blessed with new clients who are working with me both with allergy work, Reiki treatments and also in learning Reiki. My regular clients I am as appreciative of as they are the mainstay of my business. I enjoy seeing them and in watching as they feel better. Sometimes this is in combination with other therapies. Reiki is awesome for this as it is complimentary to conventional or alternative therapies.

One major piece of news this month is that I am now Asthma free!!! Woo Whoooo! I have worked for a while on my allergies to clear these up. As well I worked with Andrea Coulter who does dynamic medicine and had one specifically for asthma. Between us we cleared this up. Allergy testing on my arms were negative, as were special tests (Pulmonary Function test and the Histamine Challenge) to check out my breathing. I had done the Pulmonary Function test before and had found it difficult—so a definite change was noted.

So in this beautiful month of April I truly can count my many blessings! How has your last few months gone for you? What can you be grateful for? What blessings have occurred in your life? It may only be something small, but acknowledge this as it is so important to look at every sign of progress. Some of the most challenging things brought into our lives are there to make you think and to ultimately appreciate every blessing you may have. They may not be evident at first—but keep looking.

If you look for positives they will start to come forth. You can challenge and negate them, however, you may remain stuck. My hope for you is that you take some baby steps forward and start to live your life fully. We will all have days that are not so great. Take the time to rest up, feel the issues, then gradually start to move on.

Have a wonderful month! Enjoy Spring 2014—finally!!

Yours in health,
Sue
