As always I reflect on this year and look forward to the New Year.
There have been good byes to friends, a pet and places plus welcoming a new little one. Support was given to a friend going through court after her son was killed. I renewed friendships with former co-workers from my Oshawa General Hospital days. We have all aged gracefully together. It has been a while since we last met, yet it felt like just yesterday! As always, my girlfriend since Grade 8 welcomed me into her home to allow me to renew friendships formed when I lived in the Oshawa/Ajax areas. She is my rock!
Visits to family in Barrie and New Brunswick sustain me. Watching my Grandchildren grow is wondrous. Through out the year visiting and sharing delicious meals with friends and relatives were events looked forward to.
A few friends have had life saving surgeries, a couple of others routine surgeries. All are recovering fully thankfully. I am often reminded that patience is required as healing occurs.
Yesterday Wellspring gave hundreds of volunteers a beautiful brunch as a thank you for supporting so many members and their support of people dealing with cancer. This was a reminder to me to celebrate everything in life daily.
This is the time of year that I miss my parents. Memories of past holidays with them flow through my mind, which include our Christmas and New Years traditions. I can almost taste some of goodies that became part of each year’s festivities. My husband and I have been recreating some of these goodies!
I want to wish my friends, family and most of all you, my clients, a very Merry Christmas! May you look at this past year with love for all it has entailed. It has become part of the fabric for 2018. Understand that grief is a process and has its own timing. It has been my honour to serve you and I look forward to seeing you in 2019.
