2014… a whole new year to work with. Goals, plans and dreams! Have you defined any of these for yourself? If not, why not? What was there in 2013 that worked for you? Will you continue this into the New Year? Will you expand on this theme? Some people do collages or vision boards to map out their next year. The thing with these is that you need to dream big! For example what if you wanted to move to another house/apartment? What would you want in your new place?
Prior to moving from Ajax Ontario and living in Port Stanley many years ago, we sat down as a family to project what kind of a place we wanted. A great kitchen, a great view close to water and trees, 3 bedrooms and a least 2 bathrooms, AND my son wanted a pool as well! So we put this idea out there and what did we find. A condo in Port Stanley with the forest behind us, Lake Erie in front of us, 3 bathrooms, two balconies and a porch! We also had a large kitchen looking out on the forest. It had a pass through so we could see the lake as well. We also got a bonus with a gas fireplace in this condo, AND directly across from us was a pool where you could look out over Lake Erie. Pretty good manifestation!
There is a saying that action follows thought. I believe that the universe will give us what we need. We do have to do some work and put the ideas out there. If we project negative ideas what kind of a response will we get back? You often see people backing away to leave you alone. If we change that to project positive ideas, then that is the response we will get. For example have you ever woken up in a foul mood and you found that the whole day was a write off?
What if you woke up in the same foul mood, then sat down to drink your coffee or tea and look at feeling better and projecting this outward. Sometimes if you count your blessings or what you are grateful for this shifts the energy. If you have time before you start your day meditation often helps to give you balance so you can refocus on positives. There is a walking meditation which has you totally focusing on your walking. You are conscious of how you are placing your feet and how your posture is while doing so. Because you are concentrating on this, other things fall away from you.
Sometimes these ideas may be foreign to you or difficult to start. Small baby steps get you headed in the right direction. This is also true for New Years resolutions. If you jump into the deep end of a pool when you don’t know how to swim, you will drown. If you start out in the shallow end and take lessons over a period of time you will learn to swim. So many people join gyms at this time of year, and then hang up their shoes after only a month or two. Start out walking first. Get a good pair of walking shoes (or snow boots.) As you continue to do this, it encourages you to continue. If you join a gym after a walking regime, you are more likely to succeed.
So we started out with Goals, Plans and Dreams. Writing this made me sit down and do my goals for the year. It is not good enough to encourage others, when you don’t follow your own teachings. So I now have an outline of where I want to go this year in my practise. I plan to stretch myself more and get into videos on my web site. When people can hear and see you talk about your beliefs and practises, they are more inclined to connect with you. My hope for everyone here is that you stretch yourselves as well so that you too can follow your dreams. They are so worth it! I’ll be here rooting for you!!
