We often equate February with Valentines Day. This in turn makes us think of our loved ones. Of course the advertisements start as well. If you love someone you must send a card at the very least, or flowers, long stemmed red roses preferred. Candy of course is good too, especially chocolates. Having them in heart shaped boxes is even better! There are stuffed bears with hearts on them and many many other ideas for Valentines Day.
This is often a time when couples think of marriage and engagement rings are prominent! I would like to propose instead of just one day for the ones we love, we try to show them routinely that they are loved. I have had relatives and friends who have taken Friday evenings for themselves. We all knew not to call on this day. It is so important to maintain good relationships. This is especially true when there are children involved. It is important to think of yourselves as a couple first. Children only add to the joy, when you are complete as a couple.
February is also the month when the Ground Hogs are awoken to predict whether we will have 6 more weeks of winter OR 6 more weeks until spring! I do believe this February is a month of snow and more snow and so having Valentines Day and Ground Hog day give us something to look forward to.
Have you noticed the days are getting longer? It is so great to have the sun up for a longer period of time in the evenings. As much as we have had killer cold temperatures this winter, we have also had some periods of sun which help to increase your mood in spite of the cold. We had so much snow this winter too. It gave us a chance to use those snow blowers which have sat idle for a couple of winters.
This winter as well I have seen so many people who have been great to their neighbours who were stuck in their homes after the ice storms. Stories of acts of kindness were everywhere. It is a testament to the human spirit when people reach out to help others. Things like charging their cell phones and being allowed to warm up and have a bowl of soup. It is amazing how many wonderful compassionate people are out there in times of trouble. For the most part it seems to bring out the best in people. I think that is because everyone was in this situation together. The pictures of the beautiful ice were amazing, as were the pictures of all the destruction. Nature in all its heartaches and glory!!
This month on February 5th, I am having complimentary sessions of Reiki. This gives people the opportunity to experience the feelings of warmth and relaxation that is Reiki. I am looking forward to meeting new people and sharing in their experience. Click here for more information!
May February be a great month for you as we edge ever closer to Spring! Not too long now, so hang in there! You can always curl up on the couch and watch the Olympics. I will be cheering on our young Canadian athletes. Not sure if I will get up pre the crack of dawn or watch a repeat of the events later in the day!
