Well, here we are in Spring. It is wet and cold so far. The positive about this is that we have not had to put the air conditioning on this year. I have piled blankets on our bed though. Another benefit is the Spring flowers seemed to have lasted much longer this year. I love gardening. To me it is so relaxing and you can see results right away. The bushes have been trimmed. Mulch is put throughout my garden. The birds are nesting and I can hear their little peeps. I have 16 bird houses and most of these are occupied. This is so fun to watch. This year we got some fish for our two water barrels. They are in the bottom barrel with the water lily which will have tiny yellow lilies soon I hope. The top barrel has water cress which is delicious. I had to cover the water pump with nylon screening as I lost a few fish as it was so strong. So far so good with the ones who are left.
I am currently taking a teaching course so that I will be able to help teach people to live a healthy life with chronic pain. It is an intense four days, but I am totally enjoying this. I took a course previously on Living a Healthy Life with Chronic Conditions. The focus was on diabetes of which I was pre-diabetic at the time. Because of my own actions and also this course I am no longer pre-diabetic. I enjoyed this process so much and because I had taught before on the Addiction and Mental Health Unit I signed up to be a peer leader. I will be teaching in the Fall and Spring for 2 1⁄2 hours once a week for 6 weeks.
I had also been voted in to be Vice President of Membership for Forest City Toastmasters. More training happened today. I am certainly stretching my brain this week! I haven’t been on the executive for a few years so I’m looking forward to doing so again. I have enjoyed working with my current and new clients who have discovered Reiki and also the Allergy Corrections I do. It is always gratifying to see the changes in people as they start to feel better. I continue to volunteer every Monday at Wellspring. (For cancer members and their support persons.) Wow so far retirement for me has been very busy! I enjoy every moment of it.
This summer I will be travelling to the East Coast again to see my daughter’s family and to play with the Grandchildren again. That will be happening soon. Right after I return than we head out to Quebec and Brockville areas to see relatives. August is seeing my son and family and having the Grandbabies stay in the trailer with us. That is always such a great deal of fun.
This week like most other Canadians, I have been a bit tired… but hey… how about those Raptors! Wasn’t that an amazing series!! Nail biter for sure. Have we got our voices back yet? It was so worth being tired to see these fabulous players who never gave up. This is a first for the Raptors and a first for Canada. Kudos to all on the team! Also, a big shout out to the Golden Warriors who took a full-page ad in the Star congratulating the Raptors. How classy is that!
Yesterday I was really sick. I think I was burning the candle at both ends! I had to cancel four events for the day. I was able to do a long-distance Reiki on my client later in the day for half an hour. It turns out she was sick too. I slept all morning! I never do that. Sometimes you just have to let go of all the things you should be doing and rest. You body lets you know when it needs some time off and to stop burning the candle at both ends. If you don’t listen then it tells you a bit louder. It had to get louder for me. Lesson learned. Today everything had been rescheduled but not too much on my plate. I have spread it out more so that it isn’t all on one day.
I wish you a safe and healthy summer. Enjoy every moment. Don’t forget to have some me-time. If I can help you with discomfort in your life just let me know and we can get together to decrease any pain you might have. As you have heard long-distance Reiki works very well too!
